Meka Jackson – Brendas Babies

Loosely based on the tale of “Brenda’s got a baby” by Tupac Shakur, Brenda’s Babies continues the story as it correlates to the generational slavery, mental captivity & history repetition still plaguing our generation and beyond. Brenda’s Babies addresses these issues as deeply rooted in cycles of absentee parenting, institutional-ism, divided conquer & escapism. It recognizes systemic & systematic racism as long term residuals of slavery even over 400 years later. Brenda’s Babies attempts to offer some insight and perspective to the epidemic of Drugs & Violence as glamorized by our youth today. As victims of circumstance turned aggressors & for the necessary evils, tables are turned and the prey turn predators. Brenda’s Babies serves as the first single offering to my upcoming project. Changes start now. Within us without them. Stay Tuned!
