We recently talked with upcoming Ohio artist “Gisinthebuildin” and got to know a little more about him as an artist & person.

How did you come up with your name?
My name believe it or not it started as an adlib and people just started sayin AND G IS IN THE BUILDIN when they saw me so I ran with it. my name chose me
How did you first get into music?
I found Eminems tape Um “The Slime Shady LP” in my moms car, she got a lot of tapes from an auction, I took it to my room and heard Brain Damag.e I learned every song on the tape then started trying to make my own songs
Who are your influences?
My struggle influenced a lot. I ain’t always have everything coming up. my mom, my granny, we all seen good times but a lot more bad times. my lil brother, Monte, inspires me to do better just as I do him. my sister is a big influence, she grew up so young and I’m proud of what she became, real talk. everybody that said I wasn’t or couldn’t be where I am now CATCH UP
How would you define your sound?
I would define my sound as how new school rap should of been
What makes you different from other artists?
The difference between me and other artist is other artist sound like other artists, I sound like me. I’m me there is only one me. I’m unique I’m irreplaceable. I will never change I will always stand out from the crowd. my daughter is about to be born so I just want her to know its all for you baby hopefully one day you look back on this and are overwhelmed with pride because you are my motivation.
What are you working on?
Um right now I have a series of mixtapes Dope,Dope 2,and Dope 3
