Two doctors fired after ‘dead’ baby wakes up on way to funeral

A hospital in India fired two physicians and promised an investigation after a baby who was declared dead woke up in a bag while the family was driving to his funeral.

The case has sparked outrage across the country, police are involved, and the New Delhi health minister has threatened to cancel the hospital’s license.

Max Healthcare in New Delhi issued a statement saying the “unfortunate incident” occurred Thursday following a premature delivery of twins after a five-month
pregnancy. The second child was stillborn; the first was declared dead a short time later.

The babies were placed in plastic bags and the family was driving to the crematorium when they saw movement. They opened the bag to find the live child.

The baby was placed on life support, the hospital said.

“We are shaken and concerned at this rare incident,” the hospital said. “We are in constant touch with the parents and are providing all the needed support.”

Adding to the controversy, the child’s father, identified by Delhi-TV as Ashish, said physicians told him Wednesday that his wife, Varsha, needed an operation for bleeding. Ashish said physicians demanded extra money to improve the chances of keeping the baby and mother alive.

Delhi police said they were collecting hospital records for the mother and treatment records for the newborn babies. Video from the hospital also was being reviewed, police said.

The hospital, with more than 300 beds, is one of 14 in the Max Healthcare locations across India. It is dubbed a “super specialty hospital” on the company’s website, boasting a wide array of medical disciplines.

Max Healthcare said the firings represent a “strict action” but should not be viewed as a finding of fault against the physicians, AP Mehta and Vishal Gupta. Rather, the terminations are a “reflection of our commitment to higher standards of care.”

The Indian Medical Association weighed in on the case, issuing a warning for hospitals that a body’s metabolism can be “suspended” in cases of severe hypothermia and may protect against oxygen deprivation for an extended period of time.

The association is conducting an inquiry along with hospital officials. Dr. KK Aggarwal, president of the association, attempted to take some heat off the fired physicians.

“There is definitely a mistake,” he told Asian News International. “The difference between a mistake and negligence is deliberate action. I don’t think any doctor will do it willfully. But let the inquiry committee find out.”

NYPD cop busted trying to traffic 3 kilos of heroin

A crooked NYPD cop assigned to an anti-terror unit tried to bring 3 kilograms of heroin into the city as part of a “shocking crime spree” involving credit card fraud and counterfeit cash, authorities charged Thursday.

Reynaldo Lopez, 26, was arrested after agreeing to deliver what he believed was a hefty quantity of heroin to a drug dealer in the Bronx, authorities said. He’d been duped by an undercover police officer who handed off “three keys” in a black bag during a meetup in a New Jersey parking lot, according to a criminal complaint.

Lopez, who is assigned to the NYPD Transit Bureau’s anti-terror unit, was allegedly carrying his personal Glock handgun during the Wednesday drug deal.

“Reynaldo Lopez, a police officer sworn to serve and protect his community, instead allegedly engaged in a shocking crime spree,” said acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon Kim.

15-Year-Old Girl Stabbed and Set on Fire By Guy She Met on Facebook

Philadelphia police say a teenage girl was stabbed approximately 80 times and then set on fire met by a man she met on Facebook.

The body of 15-year-old Sabriya McLean was found in the 200 block of South 49th Street late Tuesday morning.

According to investigators, McLean met up with the suspect, 23-year-old Cole Swaringer-Herring, on Monday night.

Source say the suspect’s parents were both out at the time and when they returned home he told them what he’d done. The next morning they alerted police.

Swaringer-Herring was arrested on the scene after the body was found under a pile of leaves by responding officers. Given the violence of the crime, investigators want to know if this suspect has killed before.

“It was a very violent act so we’re looking at him in connection to some other possible cases that we’ve had,” said Capt. Jack Ryan.
There was no word on a motive for the killing.

Swaringer-Herring is charged with murder, arson, abuse of a corpse and related offenses. He’s being held pending his future preliminary hearing.

McLean, from New Castle, Delaware, had been reported missing. She had just turned 15 in October.

Amazon Delivery Driver Caught on Camera Taking a Dump in the Street

An Amazon delivery driver in Sacramento County left more than just package during a recent drop off run. The driver apparently couldn’t hold their bowels any longer because the person was caught on surveillance camera squatting and taking a sh** in the street.

Nemy Bautista wasn’t home when the driver decided to use the pavement closest to his driveway as a toilet, but surveillance footage captured the entire act. He initially reached out to Amazon via Facebook by uploading the video and tagging the company in the post with the caption: “Amazon.com Why is your driver squatting in-front of my house? Let me give you a hint … he/she is not tying their shoes. I have it on video!”

Bautista said that the driver’s supervisor came out to the scene, “He was in shock when we saw the size of it,” Bautista said. “He ended up scooping it up with a plastic bag, but didn’t want to take it with him ― it smelled really bad.”

An Amazon spokesperson released the following the statement on the matter:

This does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery service providers. This individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages and we’re in direct communication with the customer.

What would you do if you came home to a pile a sh** in your driveway?

The boy, who a family member said is 17, denied Simon’s accusation.

The teeth of the teen’s lower jaw appeared as if they had been pushed back, and were wired into place by hospital staff, the report said.

Simon is a road patrol officer who was hired by the department on Oct. 15, 2014. The agency’s internal affairs probe will begin once the criminal case is closed.

Simon’s attorney, George Odom, Jr., said in an email: “My client is looking forward to his day in court. Where, once the facts are exposed will provide clarity to these allegations.”

3 Ohio Pastors Charged with Trafficking Underage Girls

Three pastors accused of exploiting and abusing teenage girls were indicted this week on federal child sex trafficking charges in Toledo, Ohio.

The men, Kenneth Butler, 37; Anthony J. Haynes, 38; and Cordell Jenkins, 47, were charged with conspiracy for child sex trafficking as part of an 11-count indictment handed down on Tuesday, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio said. The three men pleaded not guilty.

They are accused of sexually assaulting a girl beginning in 2014, when she was 14, through 2017. Some of the abuse is thought to have taken place at hotels and at Greater Life Christian Center in Toledo, where Mr. Haynes was a pastor and used his telephone to record the sexual assaults, prosecutors said.

Mr. Haynes gave the girl money and told her not to tell anyone, saying it would ruin his family and his church, according to court documents. He “facilitated” the victim being abused by several other men, including Mr. Jenkins, who repeatedly sexually exploited the girl at his home, in his office at Abundant Life Ministries, and at a motel in Toledo, prosecutors said.

Mr. Jenkins recorded the abuse with his cellphone and paid the girl with what he called “hush money,” court documents said. He also allegedly abused a second girl in March of this year.

Meek Mill gets new bail hearing

Meek Mill will get another day in court.

Eleven days after Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley sent the 30-year-old Philly born hip hop star to prison for two to four years for violating his probation in a 2008 drug and gun case, the judge has set Nov. 27 for a hearing on a motion by his legal team to allow him to be freed on bail pending appeal.

Brinkley’s scheduling of a hearing came several hours after Mill’s lawyers filed the bail motion and was the first public response from the judge since her prison sentence ignited a national wave of protests and demands the Mill be set free.

In a related development, Mill was transferred from a maximum-security prison at Camp Hill, near Harrisburg, where he was held in solitary confinement for his protection, to the lower security state prison in Chester.

Doctor’s Say Baby Boy Died From Marijuana Overdose

Two Colorado doctors claim they have documented the first case of a person dying from consuming too much marijuana.

Drs. Thomas Nappe and Christopher Hoyte shared their findings in the journal, “Clinical Practice and Cases in Emergency Medicine.”

Nappe and Hoyte wrote in their study that the first person to die from a marijuana overdose was an 11-month-old boy.

The child, who died in 2015, was rushed to the emergency room after having a seizure. The boy’s guardian told doctors that the child had been retching, was “irritable” and lethargic in the days leading up to his hospitalization.
