Johnny Word talks being from Canada, new music, Influences, & more

Johnny Word is a new Canadian HipHop artist who is rising trying to reach his full potential. Get to know more about him below

Explain who you are for those who may not know
Johnny Word. Im an Independent Hip-Hop & Rap / R&B Artist, self proclaimed professional stoner and new age hippie

Where you from?
Ottawa, on, Canada

How did you get your start in music?
I started writing raps in Grade school around the age of 13. My teacher gave us notebooks to write about and record our science experiments but I filled mine with rhymes. I didn’t really know where to find beats at first so I would just write to popular instrumentals or accapella, until my boy got a bootleg version of fruity loops on this super old computer. He take samples of old rock songs and stuff like that and make loops, then we’d take the beats record them onto a cassette tape. Take that cassette tape and play the beat through my dads karaoke stereo and record our ryhmes over it on a second tape. It all had to be done one take, chorus , verses everything. Sometimes we would get people to yell alibis and stuff in the background.

Then he would take the tape and record it back onto his computer to make an .mp3. Lol that’s how I started. After that we evolved slowly, bought some studio equipment, made some makeshift mattress booths, but that was the start for me. I was one of the first kids I knew rapping back then,  we would freestyle everywhere we went all night every night my boy would kick a beat box and we would just go, It was an addiction.

How long have you been making it?
Roughly 20 Years Now, since 13 yrs old.

Who are your influences?
Method Man, Kanye, Drake, T.I. , Jay-Z , Travis Scott, Biggie , Partynextdoor ,

What motivates you?
Besides just good weed, vibes and music. My 3 Kids, Twin boys (4yrs old) and Daughter (7yrs old) and my beautiful fiance.

What are you currently working on?
I’m always writing and recording new music. Right now we are in the mixing stages of “Notes” a new mix-tape that will be dropping sometime late spring 2018, most likely Mid-May.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Making music and enjoying life, hopefully somewhere near a lake with lots of Pink Kush.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
I think hip-hop has expanded and become more expressive and diverse than it has ever been before. There are so many different artists and acts now in the game and listeners really have more freedom than ever to choose what they like and want to listen to. I think its amazing that more different artists get the opportunity to have their music and voice heard and I think what we are seeing being popular in today’s hip-hop scene is just a representation of the  various was of expression and diverseness of our audience. Hip-hop is the most popular genre right now its the new “Pop” music and with that your going to get big business trying to invest and capitalize on the culture but the beauty of the internet these days is all the real shit still has a chance to shine and people can pick and choose who and what they wanna listen to.

Anything else you would like to say?

Seymour talks being a college student, single “She Know It” & more

Seymour is a new artist to the game. Only making music for 8 months, you couldn’t tell by his sound. Focused on building his brand, we linked with him for a cool Q&A. Read it below:

Explain who you are for those who may not know
My name is Connor Moore, stage name Seymour. I’m a 21 year old college student that just has fun making music.

Where you from?
I’m originally from Augusta, GA. However, I now live in the Atlanta area for school, more specifically Kennesaw, GA. I go to Kennesaw State University and I am in my junior year here.

How did you get your start in music?
I got my start really just by recognizing my passion. I’ve always loved music and it’s moved me in many ways. Whether you are feeling up or feeling down music always has your back and that’s mad special.

How long have you been making it?
I’ve been making music for the past 8 months or so. It’s not a very long time, but I’ve wanted to do it for a long time, just never had the tools to create. When I met my very talented producer and one of my best friends, Kennedi Stephens, I really opened myself up and started putting music out there, and it’s been awesome. I love the feeling of being in the studio and getting dumb hype on tracks.

Who are your influences?
My influences are kind of scattered, I just love so many different artists. But the ones that stand out to me the most are Young Thug and Future. I’m not saying I sound anything like these guys but when it comes to the style of music I like and feel most comfortable with in the studio, their sing-song style of rapping and the powerful attitude they have on the track have influenced me a ton. I also really love Chance the Rapper’s positive attitude.

What motivates you?
My biggest motivators are my friends and family that enjoy listening to my music. I would say another motivation for me is people who doubt me, because I’d just love to see the look on their faces when I prove them wrong.

What are you currently working on?
Right now I’m currently working on promoting my newest song that I actually made with one of my very good friends from my hometown. It’s called “She Know It” and Polly Blanco is on the first verse and I’m on the second. I’ve known Polly for about 5 years now and I’m really excited we got to work together and I think we created something dope.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself still making music for my fans. If I blow up by then, who knows. But even if I don’t, I’ll still be pushing out music just because it’s what I love doing.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
I dont know if my opinion on the current hip-hop scene is a popular one, but in my opinion I believe that like everything else, music is always evolving. I say let it take its natural course. However, I would love to see way less glorification of drugs and xans and shit. Weed is cool and all but all that other shit is dangerous.

Anything else you would like to say?
The last few things I’d like to say is thank you Hip Hop’s Revival for this opportunity. Looking forward to working with you all in the future. Also if you are reading this, follow my pages:

Get inside Captain’s “Wicked Reality”

Captain is a new artist from Knoxville, TN. Starting music at 15, he fell in love with the process. He recently released “Wicked Reality” which takes you deep inside his mind. We had a chance to talk with him and got to know more about him. Check it out below and be sure to stream his project

Explain who you are for those who may not know
I’m a 18 year old hip-hop artist born and raised in Knoxville, TN. I try to focus on the real topics people go through in day-to-day life, I enjoy making music people can learn from and relate to.

How did you get your start in music?
I started making music when I was 15. I met with a local producer / friend of mine Lightzout and he showed me some of the music he was working on at the time. I told him I wanted to give it a try and that’s when he made me a beat and gave me the opportunity to record it in his studio. After that I fell in love with the process and continued to work with him once or twice a week after school. If it wasn’t for him I definitely would not be where I am at today.

Who are your influences?
My main musical influences would have to be Lightzout, Lil Wayne, and Micheal Jackson

What motivates you?
there is a handful of local artists in my city who motivate me to better myself. Also the young kids who come up to me singing my songs really makes me want to uphold a good image for them to look up to. I would say those are the 2 main things that motivate me to keep going.

What are you currently working on?
Right now I’m working on a collaboration project with Ukamea. I expect to have that  finished and released by early summer.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years from now I expect to be in Los Angeles making music for a living. My main goal in all of this is to be able to support a family while I continue doing what I love to do. When I reach that goal I will be able to die a happy man.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
The hip-hop scene continues to evolve year after year. Right now I feel like 90% of the new artists just focus on making party music. Although there is nothing wrong with that, I would like to see more of a focus on lyricism rather than catchy meaningless lines.

What are some of your biggest accomplishments?
My biggest music accomplishments would be my opening credits. Those include Lil Uzi Vert, Ugly God, Tee Grizzley, Curren$y, and Ayo & Teo

Get to know: Auggy

Explain who you are for those who may not know
First my name is Augustine Adams 3rd, BUT everyone calls me Auggy for short. I’ve been playing sports all my life. I love basketball and football. I’m a pescatarian. My favorite foods are shrimp alredo pasta, mozzerella sticks, and breakfast food. I can eat breakfast food anytime of the day. I just started making music in the fall of 2017. By 2019 I want to be heard by hundreds, thousands, millions.Change lives. Change the world’s thinking. Big goal yeah but anything is possible.

Where you from?
I was born in La Plata, MD in civista hospital. Well it’s called University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center now, but i moved a lot when I was young. But I was raised in Dogpatch or Waldorf with my dad, mom, and my Uncle Harold. RIP.

How did you get your start in music?
When I was in middle school me and my best friend Mack used to freestyle and make beats on his drumkit in his basement. We were in that era of music when dances came with a song left and right. From Soulja Boy to Krump music. But now music is different. I see how it can affect people by the mood they are in or how good or bad their day is. So i want to spread out that positive movement. Change the youth for better, because one thing that will never change is, The will always be the future no matter what.

How long have you been making it?
I started around September, 2017. I contacted Cmoore on IG

Who are your influences?
My biggest influence to become a rapper is Lil Wayne. He’s a legend we can leave it at that. But then there’s Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, A$ap Rocky, Chief Keef, Drake Migos, Lil Uzi,  3ohBlack, Famous Dex, and Yatchy. Those are my top artists right now but Wayne always will be number one. I’m starting to get into Trippie Redd’s music, xxxtentacion, and SkimaskTheslumpgod.

What motivates you?
My supporters motivate me. My brothers. My family. My girlfriend. All of them played a big part of me staying focus and keep at this.

What are you currently working on?
Right now, I’m just trying to get noticed. So I’m trying to make bangers for my fans and supporters. If you support me you are family. I love all my supporters and fans. I will be dropping an album this summer. Me and my duo partner Cal. He’s in the Navy right now in Cali. I’m going out there to link with him and my man mal. Finesse Squad is gettin bigger and bigger good work bros.Taking it back to the 2000s and 90s vibe. Just be ready for that.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself bigger than what I am today. An Idol that has the power of speach. Spreading all positive vibes around the world. Taking care of my mom and family. Living my life and doing what I love which is making music for people that can relate to it and feel the emotion in the message.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
Right now, Drake, Migos, Yatchy, Uzi, Rich The Kid, Kendrick, Lil Pump, xxxtentacion are killing it right now. Covering entertainment, emotions, vibes, crankage, all that. They are killing this game with connecting with people. The energy is insane too it’s crazy. I love it because it reminds me of when the OGs of this did it. Soulja Boy with the crank that, Dem Franchize Boyz lean wit it rock wit it, Chief Keef and Gucci killing the trap. T-Pain and Chris Brown were killing the dance and singing style. Stuff starting to revert back. History always repeats itself they say so we are going to back to the dances i can tell.

Anything else you would like to say?
All I can say is this. There’s awlays a bigger picture to any and everything. If you have a dream follow it now and do it. Everyone gets paid millions for their talent and dream, so why not you? So stay positive to whatever the situation is, and you will get positive outcomes.
