Get inside Captain’s “Wicked Reality”

Captain is a new artist from Knoxville, TN. Starting music at 15, he fell in love with the process. He recently released “Wicked Reality” which takes you deep inside his mind. We had a chance to talk with him and got to know more about him. Check it out below and be sure to stream his project

Explain who you are for those who may not know
I’m a 18 year old hip-hop artist born and raised in Knoxville, TN. I try to focus on the real topics people go through in day-to-day life, I enjoy making music people can learn from and relate to.

How did you get your start in music?
I started making music when I was 15. I met with a local producer / friend of mine Lightzout and he showed me some of the music he was working on at the time. I told him I wanted to give it a try and that’s when he made me a beat and gave me the opportunity to record it in his studio. After that I fell in love with the process and continued to work with him once or twice a week after school. If it wasn’t for him I definitely would not be where I am at today.

Who are your influences?
My main musical influences would have to be Lightzout, Lil Wayne, and Micheal Jackson

What motivates you?
there is a handful of local artists in my city who motivate me to better myself. Also the young kids who come up to me singing my songs really makes me want to uphold a good image for them to look up to. I would say those are the 2 main things that motivate me to keep going.

What are you currently working on?
Right now I’m working on a collaboration project with Ukamea. I expect to have that  finished and released by early summer.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years from now I expect to be in Los Angeles making music for a living. My main goal in all of this is to be able to support a family while I continue doing what I love to do. When I reach that goal I will be able to die a happy man.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
The hip-hop scene continues to evolve year after year. Right now I feel like 90% of the new artists just focus on making party music. Although there is nothing wrong with that, I would like to see more of a focus on lyricism rather than catchy meaningless lines.

What are some of your biggest accomplishments?
My biggest music accomplishments would be my opening credits. Those include Lil Uzi Vert, Ugly God, Tee Grizzley, Curren$y, and Ayo & Teo

Get to know: Auggy

Explain who you are for those who may not know
First my name is Augustine Adams 3rd, BUT everyone calls me Auggy for short. I’ve been playing sports all my life. I love basketball and football. I’m a pescatarian. My favorite foods are shrimp alredo pasta, mozzerella sticks, and breakfast food. I can eat breakfast food anytime of the day. I just started making music in the fall of 2017. By 2019 I want to be heard by hundreds, thousands, millions.Change lives. Change the world’s thinking. Big goal yeah but anything is possible.

Where you from?
I was born in La Plata, MD in civista hospital. Well it’s called University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center now, but i moved a lot when I was young. But I was raised in Dogpatch or Waldorf with my dad, mom, and my Uncle Harold. RIP.

How did you get your start in music?
When I was in middle school me and my best friend Mack used to freestyle and make beats on his drumkit in his basement. We were in that era of music when dances came with a song left and right. From Soulja Boy to Krump music. But now music is different. I see how it can affect people by the mood they are in or how good or bad their day is. So i want to spread out that positive movement. Change the youth for better, because one thing that will never change is, The will always be the future no matter what.

How long have you been making it?
I started around September, 2017. I contacted Cmoore on IG

Who are your influences?
My biggest influence to become a rapper is Lil Wayne. He’s a legend we can leave it at that. But then there’s Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, A$ap Rocky, Chief Keef, Drake Migos, Lil Uzi,  3ohBlack, Famous Dex, and Yatchy. Those are my top artists right now but Wayne always will be number one. I’m starting to get into Trippie Redd’s music, xxxtentacion, and SkimaskTheslumpgod.

What motivates you?
My supporters motivate me. My brothers. My family. My girlfriend. All of them played a big part of me staying focus and keep at this.

What are you currently working on?
Right now, I’m just trying to get noticed. So I’m trying to make bangers for my fans and supporters. If you support me you are family. I love all my supporters and fans. I will be dropping an album this summer. Me and my duo partner Cal. He’s in the Navy right now in Cali. I’m going out there to link with him and my man mal. Finesse Squad is gettin bigger and bigger good work bros.Taking it back to the 2000s and 90s vibe. Just be ready for that.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself bigger than what I am today. An Idol that has the power of speach. Spreading all positive vibes around the world. Taking care of my mom and family. Living my life and doing what I love which is making music for people that can relate to it and feel the emotion in the message.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
Right now, Drake, Migos, Yatchy, Uzi, Rich The Kid, Kendrick, Lil Pump, xxxtentacion are killing it right now. Covering entertainment, emotions, vibes, crankage, all that. They are killing this game with connecting with people. The energy is insane too it’s crazy. I love it because it reminds me of when the OGs of this did it. Soulja Boy with the crank that, Dem Franchize Boyz lean wit it rock wit it, Chief Keef and Gucci killing the trap. T-Pain and Chris Brown were killing the dance and singing style. Stuff starting to revert back. History always repeats itself they say so we are going to back to the dances i can tell.

Anything else you would like to say?
All I can say is this. There’s awlays a bigger picture to any and everything. If you have a dream follow it now and do it. Everyone gets paid millions for their talent and dream, so why not you? So stay positive to whatever the situation is, and you will get positive outcomes.

How did you get your start in music?

my influences definitely are my environment and where I came from. Growing up in Peoria is different. Just a strange meddling pot.

What motivates you?
My motivators are my family. My mom more importantly. It’s just important to my “being a big brother and being a son “ that they see me set big goals and to everything in my power to achieve them.

What are you currently working on?
Everything. I’ve got a couple projects in the cut.. as well as other singles and content. I’m always working on something. You got to stay constistant and relevant. Especially if your trying to come up.

Hopefully Im a smart and wealthy man in the rap game. Doing big things for my people and community.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
Hiphop is changing. Some people think it’s good, some think it’s bad. But it’s just change. We are in a transition period and a new generation of sound is emerging. I say as long as you have the right artist at the front of that charge it’s all good.

Anything else you would like to say?
Yea…. eveybody need listen to my music so I can get this rap check.

Dusty Leigh – Boujee Nights

Dusty Leigh is far from your average rapper. He’s white. He hails from Louisville, KY and he combines the hardcore element of Hip-Hop with the wittiness of Pop. The 24-year-old entertainer prefers to set trends instead of follow them, yet another reason he stands out in his state’s largest city.

Dusty’s brand of witty wordplay has attracted a size-able amount of supporters, the “Dust Gang,” that range from die-hard rap heads to party-minded frat kids. His music transcends color lines and embraces creativity with an adventurous mix of funk, soul and rock grooves. Dusty Leigh is the voice of the new generation.

“It’s like Mark Wahlberg’s “Boogie Night’s” and Hip-Hop had a baby”

Get to know: Murda

Upcoming VA artist Murda is working hard this year. He started music in middle school, he would freestyle with his friends and it just became natural. We talked with Murda about what he’s working on, his motivation, and more. Check it out below

Explain who you are for those who may not know
I’m Murda upcoming rapper, lyrics and message driven. My songs are about anything going on in my life just honest, raw music.

Where you from?
I’m from Charles City, VA out in the middle of nowhere lol but I always big up where I’m from because I’m proud to be from there so shoutout out to the county nothing but love all the way around

How did you get your start in music?
In middle school I would freestyle with my homeboys I’ve always been really into rap but around like 9th grade we started making songs kinda just for each other to listen to and as that continued more people started to hear about it and I started to take it more serious and just keep getting better

How long have you been making it?
I’ve making music since 2012 but within the last year and a half I’ve took it way more serious

Who are your influences?
My influences are absolutely insane because it’s too many to name 50 Cent was probably my first favorite rapper until I heard Kanye as I got older I’d go back and listen to older rap Jay-Z, Pac, Biggie, OutKast, Tribe Called Quest, J. Cole, Kendrick, Wayne, Drake as well as Gucci Mane and Chief Keef the list could go on forever lol

What motivates you?
I’m motivated by where I come from and knowing I’m kinda in a position to make a change and impact the youth, I’m also motivated by my family and friends they’ve always stood by whatever I want to do

What are you currently working on?
In May I’m dropping a visual at my old high school to get the kids ready for SOL time and I’m really excited about it. I’m also gearing up for my next album titled The Come Up

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I hope to see my vision continue to come to life and hopefully be respected as top tier. In 5 years I want to be doing every thing I’m doing today but 5 times bigger if that makes sense

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
It’s waaaaaaayyy too many trash rappers gaining mainstream attention, some rappers are more known for social media antics than actual music but there’s also a ton of talented rappers that can really spit that just need one big moment. It’s overall more good than bad but the bad is absolutely terrible and more notable.

Anything else you would like to say?
First I wanna thank Hip Hops Revival for giving me this platform, I think it’s real dope what yall are doing. I want everybody to catch this vibe and peep my most recent mixtape 1000 NiGHTS just released in February produced entirely by the best producer I know RjBANKS you won’t regret it. King Chav – Survival of the Art (Exclusive Q&A)

King Chav is a new artist repping Jacksonsville Florida. Starting music in middle school, it became his passion. After getting in the studio for the first time when he was 17, he knew its what he wanted to do. We got a chance to link with King and got to know him a little. Get to know more about him below

Where you from?
I born in Bridgeport, CT but I now reside and represent for Jacksonville, FL.

How did you get your start in music?
It started in middle school. We used to freestyle battle at the lunch tables. Then I moved to Jacksonville in high school and started rapping at my church. That was my first introduction to the whole process of being an artist: writing, recoding, performing, etc.

How long have you been making it?
My first time in the studio was when I was 17. Through college I decided I didn’t want to pursue music anymore and gave it up. But I was inspired to get back to it so since 2015, I’ve been steadily creating and releasing music.

Who are your influences?
Some people I look up to for musical inspiration are Kirk Franklin, Lecrae, Jay-Z, Tye Tribbett, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole.

What motivates you?
My motivation is always to inspire and motivate people. I truly believer God has given me a gift to express ideas and concepts through my music so I use it to honor Him and to help motivate people. Impact always moves me more than income. If you impact the lives you need to in the right way, the money will come.

What are you currently working on?
Currently in the studio working on my second project entitled The Golden Lining. It’ll be an 8 song project dropping early May. Also working on a joint mixtape with my bro Rab G, dropping late summer.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself as a father, since I currently have no children.I see myself turning this love I have for music into a full time career. 5 years I fully expect to be touring the nation and impacting lives consistently.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene?
The internet and social media has made the music scene a completely different game. I think now is one of the best times in history to be a part of hip-hop. It’s now the most popular genre in the world for the 1st time in history. The ways for exposure and fans has never been more open for the indie artist. We can get into the whole real hip-hop vs new wave rap but I think both can exist and excel within the genre. It’s not perfect at all, especially content wise, but it’s good. I try to focus on the positives than can help propel, rather than complaining about the negatives.

Anything else you would like to say?
Make sure y’all connect with me on Twitter and Instagram @iamkingchav or my website kingchav.com. Stream/download my 1st project Time Will Tell to get you ready for The Golden Lining in May. Always strive to make everywhere you go or anyone you encounter better than when you got there. God bless and stay up!
