Get to know: Steve Prophet

 

Steve Prophet is a new artist from Long Island who has been doing music since a youngin. He is now focused on making it more than a passion, but a career. He has many goals and motivations and is focusing on perfecting his craft. We got a chance to chop it up with Steve and get to know the man behind the music. Get to know more about him below 

Explain who you are for those who may not know

Steve Prophet – Rapper/Singer

Where are you from?

Long Island, New York

How did you get your start in music?

I orginally started making music after being put onto hip-hop by my older cousin. I listened to hundreds of hip -hop albums in a matter of 2 years before I started to make my own music. I started making music my freshman year of high school, about 5 years ago.

Who are your influences? 

My biggest influences are Jay Z, Cam’ron, Eminem, Andre 3k, J. Cole

What motivates you?

Motivated by the current state of hip hop

What are you working on?

Working on these weekly releases on Soundcloud and a cohesive project to follow up.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully leveled up

What is your opinion on the current HipHop scene?

Hip Hop is dope right now there are a lot of new sounds but I feel like there is not enough respect being put on the pioneers of hip hop. I try to combine both sounds in my music and I think it’s noticeable

Man Shot & Killed Leaving Drake’s Toronto Restauraunt

An event at a Toronto restaurant co-owned by Drake turned deadly on Sunday (May 20), when 28-year-old Jaiden Jackson was shot and killed after leaving a private party. According to a report from Toronto police, Jackson was leaving a party at Pick 6ix at around 9 p.m. on Sunday night when two armed men jumped out of a black Honda Civic and began shooting at him. Police say Jackson ran down an underground parking ramp, where the two men and the driver of the car chased after him. The two men, along with the driver, continued to shoot at Jackson before getting back in their car and fleeing the scene. The 28-year-old was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Drake has yet to issue a statement about the incident. – XXL
