Indy Spotlight: Gina
Explain who you are for those who don’t know
Gina… the face of LA’s UNDRGRND Wave, Cali raised, real thorough and from the streets of LA. Bold, blunt, and feisty, are all things that make Gina who she is. The vibe and aesthetic of the 90’s era influenced her mission, and fuels her drive to give back to the music culture today.
It’s no secret, her love and passion for music also correlates with her love for fashion as well. One way to describe her style is ‘Tomboy Chic’. She’s pretty enough to demand attention when she walks on the room, BUT her business savvy-ness, creative mind, and determined allows her to map out dope cyphers and discover new artist every season. This recipe is what helped create Gxpo TV, aka “her baby.”
How did you come up with your name?
The G in Gxpo stands for Gina and Xpo represents Exposure.
Where are you from?
Los Angeles, California (South Central)
Whats it like growing up where your from?
Unity rarely exist
How did you get into music?
I got into music because I wanted to recreate the feeling I felt everyday coming home from school watching 106 and Park on BET. Since I was a child, my career goal was to be the next host of 106 and Park or a new show like it. It’s unfortunate that a show which helped shape the culture, is now only a memory. I built my own brand to bring the feeling back, to create new memories, and to bring light to undiscovered artist. I want my generation to be able to look back at these moments in hip hop history. I created Gxpo TV because there isn’t a consistent platform in LA showcasing talented artist.
What are you currently working on?
Currently, I’m gearing up for Season 6. I can’t say to much because it’s a surprise but what I can say is that I want the viewers to be more involved this season.
Recently, we released the Gxpo TV season 5 cypher, starring some of the hottest lyricist on the West-coast Region. (Reason, Cash, Charlie Jay, Rozay Royce, Mark Antioniio and Stevie Hearts)
Once a month, Gxpo TV does a countdown of the hottest visuals released, “Squeez 10”. The viewers vote on their favorite video to be the #1 Squeez.

Indy Spotlight: BoyBoyBumaye
Explain who you are for those who dont know
-When I first started rapping my rap name was D-Boy (Dopeboy) I got it from the streets.. I was real heavy with coke so the name stuck like glue… I later started dabbling with heroine in my city it got a thousand names but boy is one of the few and BoyBoy is what I ran with from my ventures in the Boy game… Bumaye (Bo-Maye) is African for “Kill him”, and that’s what I do when I touch the mic “KILL EM” so I am BoyBoyBumaye
Where are you from?
– Indianapolis Indiana
What’s it like growing up where your from?
-It’s hard being a street nigga where I’m from… It’s even harder for a DREAMER.. its like if you got that GLOW or have something that the next man don’t got, you’re automatically a target. And that’s from NIGGAS and POLICE.. Murder is normal. The money ain’t plentiful and this muthafucka is too small..
How did you get into music?
– I fell in love with music when I first heard “Snoop Doggy Doggs Doggystyle” Album… Every since then I’ve been putting words together
What makes you different than other artists?
-I have a different sound my craft is unique.. I have my own lane.. I try not to imitate the stuff that’s going on now.. I love the music that’s poppin now I just try not to mimic that sound you gotta bring ya thinkin cap & thesaurus when you pop me in ya deck.
What are you currently working on?
-I’m in the process of releasing my upcoming project “Trap Yahweh” I have mane singles I plan to soon release as well.

For those who dont know yet the names Glory. I’m an entertainer that specializes in rap/ songwriting. I’m the creator and ceo of Doufside, a dallas-based company designed to produce the most entertaining content to the world.
Where are you from?
Dallas, Texas. Mainly the north side.
Whats it like growing up where your from?
The north side is intricate. Theres always the good & the bad but for the most part the north side of Dallas is a nice place to live. Everything’s pretty close together, all the people are unique and artsy which is just coming to the forefront but Dallas has always been very artistic and original. We moved around a lot growing up because of my moms job so I lived all over Dallas, but the north is where I consider home.
How did you get into music?
Music was always in the household growing up, my dad used to dj at a club in downtown Dallas called the lizard lounge so he was always making mixes in our living room. That’s when I first started to freestyle rap and then growing up I would write raps and freestyle with the homies in rap circles and shit.
What is it that you do?
Produce entertainment for the world to hear and see.
What are your goals?
To make jamz, sell records, and push my brand internationally.
What are you currently working on?
Music, mainly. I got projects and collaborations on the way. Just keep a lookout for doufside!
How do you feel about the current state of HipHop?
Indifferent. I just like the sounds. Right now alot of weird shit is getting praise and I dont know how to feel about it so i’m just staying focused on my own work.
Anything you would like to say?
RIP to my boy brunshea Johnson aka Chief, he was one of the first people to get me into music. We were best friends growing up and all our homeboys and us used to rap battle on the court in between games, he was murdered this year on my birthday. He deserves the shoutout.
Twitter: @Glorydidit

Indy Spotlight: 22 Love
Where are you from?
We all hail from Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY, one of the biggest melting pots on the east coast.
Whats it like growing up where your from?
You could say Flatbush is the heart of Brooklyn and, being so, it has its ups and downs. It can provide you the greatest experiences as well as the ones you’d want to forget. Being apart of a largely diverse community allowed us (22Love) to obtain knowledge from many different lifestyles and cultures. Our neighborhood can provide you with the tools but it’s on you how you use it and using our pasts as well as our observations growing up to help us shy away from the negativity that normally engulfs the place we call home.
How did you get into music?
Well, speaking for our music artists, each member has a story about how they developed their own individual passion for music. Music was what brought us all together it’s a interest all the members of 22Love share and from there, the music took off.
What is it that you do?
22Love is way more than it may seem at first glance. We are a collective of creative individuals who use our outlets to promote balance, equality, and self-love as well as how important loving & support is to the world. With music, clothing, and events we continue to try and spread our message to the world.
What are your goals?
We have many, but our main goal is to bring the real back into Hip Hop. Bring back more videos with storyline and concept. Bring back the raw emotion and genuine expression. Make the music more than just music again, make it art & a show of creativity.
What are you currently working on?
After dropping our debut tape, Sorry It’s This W4Y, We want to remain consistent we’re lining up more videos and music for the people.
How do you feel about the current state of HipHop?
We believe music is fluid it isn’t one thing and changes all the Time and At this point, Hip Hop is up for grabs with the different styles that flow in and out of popularity, and WE WANT IT!
Anything you would like to say?
Keep up with us on www.22Love.nyc and Get our tape On sorryitsthisway.com, thanks to hip hop revivals, shoutout to everybody in the production of the tape, and all our fans who waited so patiently for this and us.
