Indy Spotlight: Rich Rebel

img_1995

How did you come up with your name?
It started with a saying we had which was “rebel 2 society” in high school, but as time went on and we started doing music we changed it to “Rich Rebel”. Our individual artists names are KP and Rachi.

Where are you from?
We’re from the city of Atlanta, Ga.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
It’s a good place, but it could get rough at times, it’s drugs, deaths, guns, but it also could be a good environment when it wants to be. when everyone stays to themselves everything is smooth.

How did you get into music?
We always liked music growing up, always rapping and stuff like that, but as we got older, like in our senior year in high school we started to take it more seriously.

What makes you different than other artists?
What I feel that makes us different from other artists is our work ethic, and just the way we think and come up with ideas, and put our ideas together to make dope tracks, we could work and make a track in 30 minutes, and make a possible hit record, and we got bars for days, we’re like a rare breed.

What are you currently working on?
We are currently working on a mixtape, that’s coming really soon, No name, No date, but when it drops nothing but hits, we’re going crazy, we’re going to literally change a lot of rappers’ styles. I promise.

Anything you would like to say?
Rich Rebel, two new up and coming artists out of Atlanta, Ga. it’s two of us but we are one simple, can’t separate us, can’t change us. This rap thing is easy, making hits is easy, they’re going to see real soon. its a lot of low-key hate, but its also love. We thank everybody, and watch out we coming hard. REBEL GANG

Get to know: Tron Pheiffer

tron
Explain who you are for those who don’t know.
I’m Tron Pheiffer, a rapper out of Houma, Louisiana.

How did you come up with your name?
I came up with pheiffer as an extension of phife from ATCQ. I told my homie and he told me to make my first name tron.

Where are you from?
Houma, Louisiana.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
Its a small town run by the oil field so if youre not doing that, you need to find a better way. other than that, theres really nothing to do down here.

How did you get into music?
I was in band in elementary and high school so music was always around. My parents use to play oldies around our house and my sister and brother got me into hip hop and r&b.

What makes you different from other artists?
I’m different because my perspective is different. I’m talking from the perspective of a kid from the south that didn’t get into any of that extra shit. It was around me of course but I knew this is what i wanted to do for a long time.

What are you currently working on?
I’m working on a project that I hope comes out sometime in the near future. Other than that, just music in general trying to perfect my craft.

Get to know: Nako G

cos

Explain who you are for those who don’t know.

My name is Nako G.  I’m 18 years old and I’m an independent artist, songwriter, pianist, and  producer from the DMV area.

How did you come up with your name?

Nako is a part of my first name, Nakohri, which is Egyptian. The G stands for Genius. Growing up, my teachers said I had a gift for writing. I never thought anything of it until I got into music and my peers and even strangers who listened to my music would tell me I was a genius with the pen game.

Where are you from?

I’m from Newport News, Virginia. The 757, home of many talented people such as Pusha T, Michael Vick, Allen Iverson, the big homie D.R.A.M. and many other talented folks.

Whats it like growing up where your from?

Everyone is cousins with Michael Vick or Allen Iverson. (That’s a joke) lol. On a serious note, we have a lot of talent here in Virginia from photography, visual arts, and music to sports, dance, and theatre! We do it all. Growing up in Virginia, I was bound to get into something in efforts of staying out of trouble. I use to play basketball but music is my niche.

How did you get into music?

I taught myself the piano and began writing songs at the age of 12. I started producing at the age of 13. I have music in my blood and soul. At 16 I began performing at Venues in different cities and states with some of my other peers who make music as well. Traveling to places I have never been and having so many people know the words to my songs is such an exhilarating feeling. I had to keep pushing.

What makes you different than other artists?

When I say this I mean this in the most humblest of ways. I took the time to develop myself, not only  as an artist, but as a producer and songwriter as well. Most artist that I hear today just rap over YouTube beats and their songs all sound the same. I’m not knocking any artist’s hustle, but me personally I choose to be the black sheep. I want my music to stick out like a sore thumb. When I’m in the studio working on a beat or writing a song I’m always thinking of creative and innovative ways I can be different.

What are you currently working on?

Currently, I am working on an 11-track album titled, Genesis. I’m hoping to release this project as soon as fall comes. This summer, I’m dropping hits after hits and working with some reputable sources to establish a solid fan base. Also, I’m producing a couple projects for multiple artist and doing some guest features as well. So I currently, have a lot on my plate at the moment but it’s all worth it.

Anything you would like to say?

I simply want to build a solid foundation and a music family through networking and traveling.  It’s all about the connections and relationships you establish in this lifetime. Relationships are most important! I want to inspire the youth through my music. It’s more to life than what it seems!

Indy Spotlight: Fat Chynia from Columbus, Ohio

She’s unlike these other artists.. we promise you that. Skilled with flow and fashion, the queen is here to take her throne..

fat-chyna

Explain who you are for those who don’t know?

I’m a Fat Bitch with a heart of a lion. Fat Girl Living in her Fatabulous World. I am real, I’m different than everybody else, I uplift all women but my main goal is to make my Fat Women Feel beautiful. I’m all around in my opinion a product of  what I’ve been through in my life. I’m true to who I am and I honestly don’t give a fuck who feels what about me. I’m a fat bitch that’s comfortable in her skin. I’m Fat Chynia

How did you come up with your names?

When I was younger I went by PeeKaChuu. That was my first official nickname I made at 14. My old best friend and I came up with the names. She was Pooh Babes and I was PeeKaChuu. Two peas in a Pod. That was our rap name. I’m grown as fuck now so it’s Fat Chynia. So anyways I’m fat obvisouly, but people tell me I look like a fat China doll. A lot of people might think “Why couldn’t she just look like a China doll”. That what makes me unique. I’m cute, FAT, and look like a China Doll. So instead of Fat China it’s Fat Chynia(Chy-Nia).

What’s it like growing up where you from?

What is it like growing up in Columbus, Ohio. Great question, shit I love my city. I’ve been here all my life. I know my city in and out. My biggest problem with my city is they act like they don’t like fat bitches(women). My city treat big bitches like they are a different type of specie. That’s the world tho so I guess that’s irrelevant. Now that I’m grown I feel like you have to kiss ass or befriend people you usually wouldn’t to get people to hear you out. I’m not with that fake shit. I will invest my money and fuck with who fuck with me. My city lit tho. We got hella of talent, but our city needs to work together so we can get out of this jam. To sum it up my city is hard to please. If you trash they gone tell you, if you Hot they might tell you. It’s FUCKING COLUMBUS OHIO. RIP to all the fallen soliders from 614.

How did you get into music?

My dad is big hustler from Columbus. My dad use to rap back in the 90s. So I look up to him. I heard I started free styling when I was 4. Who knows what the fuck I was talking about, but I’m sure it was about SIPPY cups with my juicy juicy lmao. I’ve been rapping forever and I finally got serious about it maybe the beginning of 2017. My bitch Bunni Monroe got me in the studio to try it out and I made my first song called Run with it. It was nice. I loved the feeling of being in the studio. It felt like home. Sometimes I feel like I can’t express myself and my music does that for me. I can talk about dog ass niggas, my life, working, money, or whatever else I want. I feel like the goat in my family. Anything I do is never good enough for my family. Everything I wanted to do flopped because if they didn’t support it I didn’t want to do it. I’ve never been in love until I met the studio. With this music shit I don’t care who support because I love it. It’s my home, and it’s where I want to be.

What makes you different than other artist?

Do I have to say it again. I’m a Fat Girl, tatted like a migo, stylish, and I don’t follow the trend. Baby I’m Fat Chynia. Just look at me you can tell the difference. I’m going to show the world better than I can tell the world. When y’all see it y’all gone be like “Yea she different than other artist”. My story is me, my life is me, and what’s for me is for me.

What are you currently working on?

Right now I’m working on shooting the video for “Ima Dogg”. I’m working on my second mixtape Called “Fatabulous”. So please Lookout. Im working on my craft and working to get my face out there.

Anything you would like to say?

Don’t Sleep on me, and if you do IMA WAKE YOUR ASS UP.

Get to know: Fisher Kay

k

Explain who you are for those who don’t know

Fisher Kay. Rapper/producer guy. Backwoods enthusiast. A dude with the internet.

How did you come up with your name?

When I was like twelve, I came up with Fisher Kay. I was just starting to even write raps back then. I really don’t remember how I came up with it. It was originally “Fisher K.” until I was like fourteen then I changed it to Fisher Kay because it just looks better. Nobody was feeling the name at first. You can’t really make people call you something if they don’t want to. When I was fourteen, I dropped my first release ever. After that, everybody started calling me Fisher. I think it’s cause at that point, I had a reason that filled the name. Nobody was really trying to rap back then. I was always ya local SoundCloud rapper though. Nowadays, most people close to me just call me Fish. Fish, Fisher, Fisher Kay, any is good with me.

Where are you from?

Fitchburg, MA, baby.

Whats it like growing up where your from?

Boring. My friends & I had fun though. You gotta make the most out of what you have. Fitchburg is my muse. The things I experienced growing up here molded me into the person I am now. If I could do it all again, it’d be in Fitchburg with the same friends I still have now.

How did you get into music?

I always liked music, ever since I was little. I never really got into sports or other stuff like that. When I was like twelve, I decided to start writing. When I was like fourteen, I started recording and producing some. I started uploading some stuff online and the rest is history. There was never really any person who directed me towards this, I just kind of gravitated towards it naturally over time.

What makes you different than other artists?

I’m 100 percent me. I’ll never change my style to please anyone. I know who I am. I’m genuine. I’ll let the music speak for itself.

What are you currently working on?

Just tryna get a lot of music recorded. It’ll probably lead to another tape down the line. Definitely more visuals in the works as well. Got some more stuff coming with my man, E.L.F. Shoutout to him. Chxpo & I have a song produced by him dropping soon. I’ve got a track produced by Oogie Mane that I wanna drop soon too hopefully. Super excited about that. Right now, it’s more about working than releasing though. I’ve also got some things that I’ve been working on with my older brother who recently got into producing too so, that’s really dope as well.

Anything you would like to say?

That I appreciate each and every person who has helped me and supported me through my experiences so far with music.

Pharaohs IN America

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Candid, powerful, and refreshingly honest, Zay Avenue (Born Willie James Parker) is a breath of fresh air; true poetry to escape a noisy world. The word “escape” embodies much of the meaning behind the artist’s work. Raised amidst the struggles of a difficult upbringing in the streets of Indianapolis, music was “an escape from reality.
