Explain who you are for those who don’t know

Hello, My name is Lamont aka King Libra. I am 18 years old and what I love to do is make music. I am a rapper and producer, I am also an independent artist. My goal is to become the next Kanye West. My style of music is a mix breed between Drake and Travis Scott. As of right now I am a high school senior getting ready for college.

How did you come up with your name?

At first my name was Drew Xo but that’s another story. I got King Libra from my xbox gamer tag. It’s KingLibra98, it’s my zodiac and birth year. My ex used to call me her king so that’s where it came about…King Libra

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland but currently living in Essex, Maryland

Whats it like growing up where your from?

It was tough growing up in the 410 but it wasn’t too bad for me just the stuff around me that I grew up with. Most of my life I’ve been living with my mom, my dad was a weekend dad but I spent most of time on the east side of Baltimore with my mom and at the time it was a lot gang related things happening. I didn’t get involved but I knew friends in it. Not to mention I didn’t quite fit in either. I was your original Oreo, Donald Glover kind of guy and I guess you can say I wasn’t cut out for it. I would get teased for the things I was into and the stuff I did like skateboarding, anime, rock music, skinny jeans, and the most famous question I got was “Why do you talk white?”. But for the most part I grew from that and it was pretty ok. I learned things that made me the man I am now.

How did you get into music?

Music runs through my family low key. My uncles on my mom side rap and my dad and his two brothers used to rap as well. I used to be around them when I was little and they used to freestyle to me and later on in my life it grew on me, it’s genetic. I wrote my first song in middle school it was cheesy and corny it was called “I got swag”. I’ve been writing since I was 14 and started producing at 16 out of boredom and sooner got good at it.

What makes you different than other artists

It’s not that many artists out there that work like I do. I would say that for the most part. The work is different. When I want to make a song I make the beat, I write the song, I record it, I mix it, I master it, I literally do everything by myself. I like to think I’m blessed with a curse. I could make a whole mixtape and then make another the next month or week or so and just have projects coming like it’s nothing. Nobody has the same energy as I do. I like to think my music has meaning to it. It’s fun to listen to when you’re sad or wanna get lit. It speaks to people. The only way I’m not different is the auto tune.

What are you currently working on

I was working on my album but I am working on this next original mixtape/album called “Look What You’ve Done” it’s kind of like a trap soul kind of thing but I ain’t asking for second chances it’s like “bitch look what you’ve done to me”

Anything you would like to say?

I would like to say King Los isn’t the only king in the 410 and a shout out to the Death Star and Blank Face team. Also more to come. Shout out to Jogger for some upcoming work I have in the vault
