HHR: Let’s start with your musical journey. How did you initially get involved in making music, and what role did it play in your life?

Ray Vision: I started making music with friends in high school as a joke. Later, I naturally found myself using music as an outlet as a form of expression. What drives my passion for music is the process of taking real-life events from my life and being able to express those events through music while reaching people.

HHR: It sounds like music became a significant part of your life. Can you tell us about your roots and how your upbringing and community influenced your musical style?

Ray Vision: I’m from Portsmouth, VA, but spent more time in Chesapeake, VA. My community definitely influenced my musical style along with my friends and the artists I’m inspired by.

HHR: Speaking of inspiration, who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how do they impact your work?

Ray Vision: A few of my biggest musical influences are Speaker Knockerz, Lil Wayne, Youngboy Never Broke Again, Quando Rondo, & Ed Sheeran. Not only in these artists, but I find inspiration in anybody I come across, whether you make music or not.

HHR: That’s a diverse range of influences. Can you walk us through your creative process? How do you typically approach crafting a song?

Ray Vision: A lot of my songs start with an emotion. I may be angry, and I’ll start the song expressing my anger and build from there. I record and engineer most of my songs myself using FL Studio.

HHR: Your music seems to carry a message. What is the main message you aim to convey to your audience through your music?

Ray Vision: The main message I’m aiming to convey to the people is that you are in control of your life even when you have no control physically. Stop blaming everyone else for where you are in life and take accountability for the areas you lack mentally and physically.

HHR: Along your journey, what have been some of the greatest challenges you’ve faced, and what achievements are you most proud of?

Ray Vision: The greatest challenges I’ve faced thus far would be lack of motivation. Getting caught up in the numbers would take away from the enjoyment, so I had to shift my focus and be more patient, understanding that everything is falling into place. My greatest achievements thus far have been winning Moss Fest 22’ & performing for names such as Atlantic Records & Badazz Entertainment.

HHR: Looking ahead, what do you envision for your musical journey? What are your aspirations for the future?

Ray Vision: Looking forward, I don’t know what’s next for me in my musical journey. I feel what’s to come will be greater than expected. All I can do now is stay focused and keep a positive mindset.
