Indy Spotlight: M Dot Taylor
M Dot Taylor is a certified Rapper/Singer who is focused on his career, family, and goals. He is a military veteran (Navy) who is now dedicating his time to music after giving 5 years of his life to the military. “I realize the music industry is dominated by the artists that work the hardest, so I use that as fuel to go hard in every aspect in life, not just music” expressed M Dot Taylor. The Detroit Michigan native began writing when he was 10 but began recording when he was 12 yrs old.
“Growing up in Detroit, no matter who you are or where you’re from you’ll eventually find yourself in church, and for me being at church was a get away because it seemed like everyone who was at church followed the rules of peace and love while they were there. I use to listen to the choir at church and watch my mom sing along with the look of complete happiness on her face, and I told myself that I’d learn how to sing so I could give her that feeling whenever she was down. So I learned how to sing, but on the flip side of things growing up in the hood there’s a lot of less fortunate people living in poverty and singing is not always the tone needed to match the energy to describe what we went through growing up, and for that reason I learned how to rap.”

M Dot Taylor has a new single called “Tap In” That features Ice-T, A.D From Compton, and Glasses Malone from Watts California. It was produced by Clyde Strokes, and the Video is Fire. S/O to Jarett Bellucci the Conclusion for the visual. It will be available on 9/11/2020. Check out his single “Stylin” featuring Fedie Demarco, it has over 24k streams!

Get to know: Barry Hendrixx
Barry Hendrixx and HHR go way back!!!!! Its been a minute so we decided to catch up with the St Louis native to see where/how he’s been! Check it out below:
Explain who you are for those who don’t know
I go by Barry Hendrixx and that’s my god given name. I’m just an artist who loves to make music and have a good time.
How long have you been doing music?
I’ve been doing music for over 10 years when I was a teenager. Started taking it more seriously after college. I played football at the University of Wyoming so that took priority most the time.
Where are you from?
I grew up on the east side of St. Louis in Illinois so I rep both. 618 to 314 both area codes St. Clair County & St. Louis.
Are you still there currently?
Nah, I moved to San Diego summer 2017 and then up to LA that Fall. San Diego was cool af but I knew if I was gone make it it’d be in LA. I’ve been in LA since then.
When did you realize you wanted to do music?
In High School. I had buddies who rapped and I was like shiiit let me try that shit and people really rocked with it so I kept going. People knew me as a rapper in high school and in college. It was dope but football was always my first love. Nelly, Kanye West, & Kid Cudi were huge influences for me in growing as an artist and working to perfect my craft. Mac Miller too RIP.
What have you been working on recently?
Just dropped a few singles most recently IN THE LOU out on Soundcloud right now. Representing where I’m from and the Midwest/Southern culture. Definitely go peep IN THE LOU!!
This whole year I’ve been locked in the studio recording and making music for my fans. I quit my job last year and dedicated everything to music now so I’ve actually had the time to make good quality songs. I’ve been previewing them here and there on social media and every time people go crazy lol the plan now is to finish/polish all the songs here soon and release singles and/or an EP…we’ll see I guess I’m just going with the vibe at this point
What’s next for you?
Doing what I can to get established and get my foot in the door. With coronavirus stuff’s been different not being able to go to events and meet people or do shows. Even then you gotta keep pushin so I’ve been working on dropping music over the next couple months and giving my fans some dope visuals!
I want to drop my first project at the top of next year and hopefully meet my fans on tour next year!
What message do you have for your fans?
A lot of people look at me and the position I’m in and assume I’m just in it for the money fame or attention but nahh I’ve actually never made music for any of that..the first time I made a song I had someone hit me up and tell me it got them through a rough time and that they bang my song when they’re down and it lifts them up… shit from then on I understood the mission. I make music for my family and fans and for the world…my fans keep me going for real! As long as I can change a life with my music I’ll never stop making it. Let’s rock and vibe out!!
Anything else you would like to say?
Shout out to HipHopsRevivial been rockin with yall for a while and it’s dope to see yall blow up!
IN THE LOU out now on SoundCloud. I’ll be looking to drop my next single very soon so be on the lookout!
To my fans don’t ever let nobody tell you you can’t do somethin! The world is your and everything in it so go fuckin get it!! No fear no regrets!
