Explain who you are for those who may not know.

I’m a songwriter, rapper and singer who goes by the name of Akiem Small

Where you from? 

Portmore, Jamaica

How did you get your start in music?

When i was 16 and trying to figure out what i really wanted to do for the rest of my life, i’ve noticed whenever i listen to a song i liked, i remix it to make it sound better, all my notebooks would have a lot of song lyrics,metaphors,hooks you name it at the back of my books but when i first went into a recording studio that was the game changer.

How long have you been making it?

it’s been on and off but roughly 6 years

Who are your influences?

J.cole, Biggie Smallz, Wu-Tang, 2pac and Kendrick Lamar.

What motivates you?

I love inspiring people the way my influencers did on me by being that voice of the Hip Hop Community and speaking on topics that a lot of people should be focusing on right now.

What are you currently working on? 

My single Problems is out now, you can stream it on spotify,soundcloud,everywhere but the music video will be coming very soon and my new single intercounty Freestyle will be dropping soon as well.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Doing what i love, make music and performing to people who supports me and apart of the Hip Hop Community.

What is your opinion on the current hiphop scene? 

People say Hip Hop is dead when it’s not, its evolving and sometimes change is good.
