Indy Spotlight: Dizzy, Darling

screen-shot-2017-08-08-at-10-58-15-am

Explain who you are for those who don’t know
– I’m a Photographer and Musician, who loves to play in various creative mediums. But for the most part I just do stuff randomly and by accident, sometimes, it sounds hella weird and some people seem to like it.

How did you come up with your name?
– When I was 19 or 20 I wrote some short novels about a couple who slowly started to disconnect emotionally from each other. And that phrase stuck with me, because the girl in the story says that to him. That she’s feeling dizzy, unsure about love and everything. Plus, I love the word “Darling”, like people should really use it more to their beloved ones haha. My music sounds most of the time really unsure about love or even melodramatic I would say, so I thought it was a perfect match. And I like the idea of a “Project” that sounds more like a sentence than a real name.

Where are you from?
– I was raised in Switzerland, but for the most time I daydream about my second home, Brazil.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
– For the most part it is great to live in a secure environment like Switzerland is. But it comes with a lot of stress and pressure, especially when you try to be true to yourself and try to make a living with creative stuff. But thats everywhere in the world I guess.

How did you get into music?
– My parents played all kind of music in the household back in the days, so it automatically resonated with me. With the years I found more and more music that I didn’t really pay attention to as a child and this influenced me heavy. I just love to play around with different genres and influences. Just to put a really, lets say, mainstream melody with a strange industrial type thing together is really fun. Or sample Madonna and mix it with reversed Baile funk rhythms. This is pure bliss for me.

What makes you different than other artists?
– I think we all use the same color palettes, but the technique and the way I paint with melodies and cadence is far more experimental than my peers I think. I don’t think the people here in Switzerland are used to this kind of music but its fun to challenge others and myself and to explore raw emotions.

What are you currently working on?
– I just started some concepts for my next album. Just throwing random ideas and see which ones stay in my mind for a long time. And in the meantime I’m really stoked about some collaborations with other artists, which is new for me, because my music is so bedroom based. But I’m really looking forward to these projects, I’m receiving a lot of love and many suggestions for collabos. Oh, and more musicvideos of course.

Anything you would like to say?
-I’m just thankful for every opportunity. I love the fact that this art thing, after all these years it slowly begins to morph into something special. It’s not paying the rent and shit, but I get payed with a lot of love and recognition, and that’s all I’m hoping for.

Indy Spotlight: Shée Blue

Explain who you are for those who don’t know.
I’m Shée Blue. The Shée  is prounced Shay. I’m just an MC that you can’t put in a box. I don’t like to do labels.

How did you come up with your name?
When I first started doing music, my rap name was Shée Gutta, because I always keep it ‘Gutta’. But as years went down the line I decided to change & shorten it to, Shée Blue, which is my nickname and government.

Where are you from?
Rochester, NY.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
It’s very hard. Everybody’s trying to make it but others don’t want people to make it. But, I still love my city. It made me, me.

How did you get into music?
I always loved music. I listened to all genres growing up. I got into the flute when I was younger and one time I was with my cousin who was into rap and we started freestyling and from that moment on I knew it was on. From then on, I loved it ever since.

What makes you different than other artists?
I’m my own individual. I like to express myself and things I’ve experienced differently. Not just because it’s hot right now, not taking anything away from them, but I just want to always have a message or point in my music while being me.

What are you currently working on?
As of right now, getting ready to drop my mixtape The Check In and my debut album, Delayed Arrival.

Anything you would like to say?
I just want to thank anybody who supports me and I will continue to drop dope material. And  yeah, big shoutout to my team HCM! We got next & now!

Explain who you are for those who don’t know

I see myself as a revolutionary using the art form of rap to communicate my mission to the masses. I see myself as a true artist who makes songs that are real, not just what people want to hear.

How did you come up with your name?

My government name is Kenneth McElroy Jr. My father was a football superstar in my area and they called him Kenny Mack. I call myself KennyMackForever as a shout out to my father and to God, because I’m gonna live Forever.

Where are you from?

I’ve been living in Tampa for about 5 years now, and it has my heart but I was born in a town called Titusville, Florida.

Whats it like growing up where your from?

People from the city say my hometown is mad country. Maybe it is, I guess that makes me a country boy. There wasn’t much to do outside of playing sports, getting in trouble and making music where I’m from. But I thank God I was born there.

How did you get into music?

My father started rapping when hip-hop began. As far back as I can remember, he was freestyling in the house. As soon as I could talk I was freestyling songs into a little boombox he had. Music never really left me since that point.

What makes you different than other artists?

As an artist, I’m seeking after the listeners heart, I’m aiming at their mind. I’m not an artist who is in this for fame, girls or money. Hip-hop has a great influence on the people, I use that platform to truly make people think. To question why we do what we do. My music doesn’t glorify the very things that are killing our community, but rather analyzes why these things are happening and what we can do to better them. I want to lead my listeners to a higher understanding, to lead them to God.

What are you currently working on?

I’m always grinding at all times. I’ve dropped a lot of songs and videos recently and am working on a true come up, hoping and praying that hip-hops revival can aid me in that.

Anything you would like to say?

Rappers need to use their platforms responsibly. Why do we rap about our women like they’re nothing but thots and hoes, why do we brag about murder in our music when our brothers are lying dead in the streets? I’m far from perfect, but to me that doesn’t make sense.

Explain who you are for those who don’t know

For the people who doesn’t know me YET, my name is Essa Kouyate and my rapper name is Eazzee.I am 17 years old and born and raised from the Bronx, New york but moved to and coming up with my music from 360 Washington, Mount vernon.

How did you come up with your name?

My name came from all sorts of things actually, from my teacher calling me Eazzee cause everything I did in his class I would say is easy. So I added a twist to it and spelled it differently. And my Ma would call me Eazzee when she would tell me to do stuff and it was just a nickname for me.

Where are you from?

Born and raised in boogie down Bronx, featherbed lane In New york.

Whats it like growing up where your from?

Growing up there was nothing but hard times and struggles.Everyone knew eachother on the block so if you were new we all would of known that same day. Their was savages out their to, tons of em always chilling looking for someome to cross em or do something. Sometime you didn’t have to do anything and they will still come at you.You would never know what was going to happen on the block. One day someone gets run up on, the next everyone be chilling like nothing ever happened. It was a normal thing.

How did you get into music?

I got into music by just going into a class they have at my school. I always wanted to do music but just never knew how, so after I found out there was a studio and all the productions and all that stuff I started going in everyday and learning and little by little I started picking up a fan base and started growing. But I want to take it further by reaching people out my city and state I’m at.

What makes you different than other artists?

What makes me different from others is besides my different taste in music. I have a different taste in style and the way I go about things. I wear two different shoes cause instead of just style it means something to me, it represents peace like  yin yang and if you listen in my songs that why I say yin yang cause its me tryna symbolize peace and how I represent it. That why I have a gang called yin yang gang as well. We all stand for it. I don’t do my music also for just me I do it for my family really. I want them to be blessed and I wanna make em proud and make sure they experience the life they really deserve. So when I start eating and make it big they gonna be eating with me too.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on my Single called” Brand New”
that is dropping this month in August. And also my music video that is dropping in August to for another single called “Snakes”. You can check that song out on my mixtape called “Different” on soundcloud. @Eazzee
