I reside in St. Paul, MN but I am originally from L.A

Whats it like growing up where your from?
I grew up in a gang infested neighborhood in Los Angeles, which was portrayed in the movie “Training Day” and is known as the “Jungle”

How did you get into music?
It’s in my genetics. My dad and uncles (Brotherly Love) charted #16 on the Billboard Charts with “Mommas Little Baby Love Lovin”

What is it that you do?
I “PEN” and record catchy records

What are your goals?
To Billboard chart higher than my dad and uncles, inspire people, while leaving a legacy

My brother (9Gotti), Lennon John, Huncho and Reala and myself (ATR) have been working on my second album “Igloos On My Beach” (reloaded).

How do you feel about the current state of HipHop?
I think the state of hip-hop is great! Music is selling again and people are having fun again. Music has evolved and you must “evolve” to stay relevant.

Anything you would like to say?
This last year and a half has been really hard for me. I am going through a child custody case for my son. My son and I went from seeing each other every weekend for 10 years, to not seeing each other for a year and a half over a song (Rip Fire) and I have “joint legal custody”. Yeshua and my music are the reason I am still standing.

Indy Spotlight: New Track City

for-fb

Explain who you are for those who don’t know/Where are you from?

What’s up y’all we by the name of New Track City. We’re a Hip Hop/Jazz group from Federal Way, WA. We’re formed of 2 rappers (Bem and Chi.Stone) and a producer (Dru on Beats).  We’re just into making overall dope music and giving out dope vibes.

Where are you from?

We’re from Federal Way, WA. It’s a city about 25 minutes south of Seattle. It’s actually right inbetween Tacoma and Seattle.

Whats it like growing up where your from?

Growing up in Federal Way was dope. It was cool because we kind of got both sides of everything as far as musical influence. We got that authentic 90’s Hip Hop vibe but since Seattle is know for it’s underground rock scene we got a lot of that too. Jazz is also heavy around our way so we were definitely influenced by that a lot.

How did you get into music?

We got into music seriously in High school. It first started with us just meeting up and recording at the homie’s home studio (AKA a microphone in a closet) and from that it just expanded into something big. We all had a huge passion for music before getting together.

What is it that you do?

Man we’re just try and provide the world with the most dope authentic vibes through our music. We feel like that’s our job as artists. We’re here to inspire and innovate.

What are your goals?

Our goals with music is just to change lives and make the dopest sh*t while doing it.

What are you currently working on?

Right now we just released our EP, “Lose Sight of the Shore”. We’re just working on getting that into the atmosphere as much as we can. We’re also doing a mini college/city tour, so catch us in a city near you soon!

How do you feel about the current state of HipHop?

Hip Hop currently is on the up and up. It’s starting to get more balanced out. At one point it was more one way then the other but now it’s kind of coming full circle. We’re excited to see what’s next.

Anything you would like to say?

Much love to everyone who has been rocking with us and been supporting us. Y’all inspire us to keep doing what we do and for that we’re thankful. Our EP “Lose Sight of the Shore” is out now! Be sure to go check that out!

Indy Spotlight: Devante

devan

Explain who you are for those who don’t know
I’m a 19 year old producer/artist from Charlotte NC (turn 20 in September). I’m currently attending Full Sail University in Orlando for music production. I am very chill dude that has always been in love with music and fashion. I grew up under the influences of Pharrell, Andre 3000, Lil Wayne, Kanye and Drake.

How did you come up with your name?
Devante is my middle name. I decided to go with my middle name because I was having a hard time coming up with a name that wasn’t corny. I used to try to come up with names when I was younger but I felt they just wasn’t me.

Where are you from?
I was born in a small town called Albany Georgia. My family moved to Charlotte when I was in first grade.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
Growing up in Charlotte was very cool. It taught me a lot about life and formed me to be who I am today. Charlotte is a big city that is very diverse with a lot of mixed cultures. I grew up fast and did a lot of things at a young age that most kids my age wasn’t able to experience.

How did you get into music?
Music has always been a part of my life. As a kid my mother always played various types of music and loved concerts. My parents have taken me to numerous concerts starting at a young age and throughout my childhood. I’m talking about concerts back in the day, such as when Lil Romeo and Bow Wow was hot and making noise. haha. Back in the day, Lil Wayne would have a tour that came to Charlotte almost every year that I attended. This was when he was running hip hop and killing every verse. Seeing these shows inspired me; as well as, allowed me to see that I too can do this. As a kid, I didn’t watch a lot of cartoons. After school, I was more into watching 106 & Park with AJ and Free. Every day I enjoyed watching music videos.  I always believed that I  could rap and produce. At first I was shy and didn’t share my talent with others. I recorded my first song when I was 15, which was a freestyle over Rick Ross’s “Diced Pineapples” song. I sent the song to a few friends, people at school and family. Everyone loved my music and this was the beginning and there was no turning back. I began to work on my craft by learning how to produce and have been going ever since.

.

What makes you different than other artists?
I feel with me, I’m just me I’m not one of these rappers that don’t know themselves or trying to pretend to be someone else. I’m just Devante and I think people here that in my music when they listen to my music or meet me. All my songs come from stories that have happened or inspired me and you never know what I’m going to do next! I’m very versatile with my music I’m not stuck to just one sound I have a lot of songs that all bring different vibes.

What are you currently working on?
I have been working on putting together a tape, I have a lot of songs that I have produced and cooked up that I’m just gearing up to release and show the world what I’ve been up to.

Anything you would like to say?
It’s a whole lot more music to come and if you enjoy lemonade just know this is only the beginning.
