Explain who you are for those who don’t know

I’m from Oakland California ,started off trying to pursue beats and production but I started rappin 10 months ago, I’ve always had a passion for music since I’ve been young , when I was little and would get sick, music would change my whole mood and make me feel better. From that point on I knew I was going to do something wit music weather it may be an Artist, Producer, Manager, Or AR. I knew I was going to be involved in the music industry because I have such a good ear for music , I always listen to rappers and know they finna blow up before anyone gives them recognition, so I guess I’m just finally tryna put effort into my self. Other than that I’m real chill guy, I like to smoke a lot of backwoods  and make a lot of music lol.

How did you come up with your name?

The came up with my name is actually kind of simple, I was smoking wit my brother and my real name starts wit a J, and when I was thinking about my rapper name  I was just thinking to much just about my career and wat ppl are going to think. And my brother said to me just do it like Nike cuz u finna be in yo GLO. Think about that one it will make sense if you put some thought into it.

Whats it like growing up where your from?

It’s rough living in one of the dangerous murder capitals in the country where people hate on you constantly and people die everyday. People fuk wit me  where I’m from but no matter what , whenever you doing something different and adding something new into the culture that’s generally use to the same type of music for centuries at a time of course it’s gone be some haters and people who gone voice they opinion. I just use it as motivation to stay focus and long as I know I’m making music that I love, music that is unique, and vibrant I know I’m doing my job as an Artist and being an Artist you have to understand that everyone is not going to like your music , but building up your own fan base is very important and that’s what I’m focusing on the most rite now to get my music out their to as many ears as possible.

How did you get into music?

I got into music really on my own just always watching MTV Jams And Revolt and seeing my cousin Stevie Joe doing songs with Philthy Rich, seeing my uncle work with snoop dog when I was younger, growing up being in church being around instruments all the time. It’s always been around me and listening to so many different types of music , from Hip Hop to R&B , Gospel, all these different elements of music I feel has all played a huge roll in my life and has helped me in many different ways.

What makes you different than other artists?

I don’t think I’m different from any Artist out their , I feel like that’s to much of broad statement to say. We all have a dream, we all wanna be somewhere one day and just tryna support ourselves and our family. I just make music I love and think is pretty good and stay focused on the people who support me and rock wit my music, and I just block out all the negative vibes and comments from people who don’t fwm

What are you currently working on?

I’m Actually working on dropping my first EP called ” REBEL THOUGHTS” and I will be dropping more music videos all summer, my first music video ever made got a pretty good response from the public with over 10,000 views from the public and considering my music is different from most Bay Area Artist so it’s harder for me to build a bigger fan base then just an Average rapper from out here. So that motivated me and I’m striving just do better and Improve each music video , each song , each show, everything.

Anything you would like to say?

I just want to thank you guys for this wonderful opportunity and I hope you guys enjoyed hearing a lil bit about my life and my road to success as we speak

Get to know: Woods, the Mighty

woods

Explain who you are for those who don’t know.

I’m simply an artist. I just love to create. And I love seeing the things I visualize in my mind come to life.

How did you come up with your name?

Initially, I didn’t go by Woods, the Mighty. It began with corny names like “Zero” and “Absurd”. Eventually, my motives matured and it developed into something more personal. As I first started to collect myself I went by just “Woods”. As I went on, I learned that between Google and iTunes “Woods” wasn’t going to work because there was a folk band named “Woods” and way too many pictures of trees. Over time it just clicked. I loved the Mighty Ducks movies as a kid and I was looking for a dope logo to empower my name and establish my brand. With a little bit of elbow grease, it stuck.

Where are you from?

Originally, I’m from Philly. But in sometime in elementary school, we ended up moving to Southern Illinois to be closer to extended family. Sophomore year of Highschool I ended up moving back to the East Coast (NJ) and I’ve been here since then. It was tough switching locations at such pivotal points but I’m grateful for it. I think growing up in three very different places gave me a broader scope of the world, it taught me to not get too attached to my surroundings and just do me.

What’s it like growing up where you’re from?

Philadelphia is amazing, it’s the kind of place you’re made to be passionate about. Theres’ a lot of history is in the city and it really is a beautiful place. There weren’t too many defining moments for me there except that I used to get my bike stolen all the time. In Illinois, I had this friend that exposed me to a lot of music early in Highschool and that’s where I found a sincere interest in rap.

How did you get into music?

I used to be heavy into Wayne and Asher Roth when I first found rap music. “Seared Foie gras” and No Ceilings” were the most insane mixtapes to me and they’re still CLASSICS. A part of me wishes I could tell you I came up on Nas and Biggie and how I studied the 90s legends but that just wouldn’t be true. I mean, I’m definitely aware of some hits but I think coming in at such a weird time is what makes me different though. When I moved back to Jersey for the last time it just was the beginning of summertime and I had NO friends here. So, I I would stay in my room all summer and play with my laptop and use my webcam as a mic and just send corny songs back to my friends in Illinois. It was just me being a goofy little white kid who was super lonely. Then I eventually met friends and made a team who believed in me. 6 years later, here we are.

What makes you different than other artists?

I think what makes me different is my perspective on the world. I always try to see people and situations in a positive light. The world really lacks an objective narrative. Everyone is so quick to be sarcastic or judgmental I think we’ve lost sight of what’s important. In my music, I like to think I have a distinct taste for specific melodies and wordplay.

What are you currently working on?

Visuals. Lots of Visuals. I just released an all original mixtape called ‘#FREEWOODS’ so we’re trying to crank out videos for those tracks. Aside from that, I think I’m aiming for live sets, dope singles and some new collabs with really cool people.

Anything you would like to say?

‘#FREEWOODS’ available everywhere right now. Digital music stores, streaming services, and mixtape sites.

ccolum

Explain who you are for those who don’t know
I am CiCi Columbiana Im a Rap Artist , Poet , Actress , & I am a Boss

How did you come up with your name?
I got my name from a movie that had my favorite actress Zoe Saldana as the lead character. In the movie she plays a young woman who has grown up to be an assassin after witnessing the murder of her parents as a child. She turns herself into a professional killer working for her uncle but remains focused on getting revenge on the people responsible for killing her parents. So I have worked to turn myself into a lyrical assassin killing every track that i get on. Also my real name is Sierra and everyone calls me CiCi so I combined the two. CiCi Columbiana

Where are you from?
I am from D.C.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
Its like everywhere else I would think, you got your good spots and bad spots and you got to know how to maneuver in your city. Its fun but at any moment anything could happen so you have to be aware of your surroundings.

How did you get into music?
I was going to the studio with my God Father since I was 6 so i have been around the music all my life. I asked my God Father if I could rap so he said only if you willing to train like an athlete he told me he was gon make me the Lebron James of Rap. Straight from High School to the Pros, so i had to work on my writing everyday and he would pay me a dollar for every hot metaphor I wrote. I have been writing since i was 6 and now i feel like i am ready to go up against the best.

What makes you different than other artists?
I feel Im different because I can do all styles , I can be very lyrical or I could do a pop song there is no track that I cant kill.

What are you currently working on?
