SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — A man trying to retrieve his own property from the South Charleston Police Department has been arrested on drug charges.
Police say Christopher Smith went to the department on Thursday to get his property, which had been seized during as evidence during a prior arrest.
They say Smith was displaying obvious signs of impairment to drug usage and he was arrested.
While preparing to process him, police say Smith reached into his pant sand moments later something fell to the floor in the area where Smith was setting.
Upon further investigation, police determined Smith had dropped Xanax pills.
They say a total of 52 pills were found on the floor and in Smith’s possession.
Smith is charged with public intoxication and possession with the intent to deliver.
He was taken to the South Central Regional Jail. His bond is $10,000.
Police say Smith has been charged with possession with the intent to deliver on multiple occasions in 2017.
