Doctor’s Say Baby Boy Died From Marijuana Overdose

Two Colorado doctors claim they have documented the first case of a person dying from consuming too much marijuana.

Drs. Thomas Nappe and Christopher Hoyte shared their findings in the journal, “Clinical Practice and Cases in Emergency Medicine.”

Nappe and Hoyte wrote in their study that the first person to die from a marijuana overdose was an 11-month-old boy.

The child, who died in 2015, was rushed to the emergency room after having a seizure. The boy’s guardian told doctors that the child had been retching, was “irritable” and lethargic in the days leading up to his hospitalization.

American Model Sells Her Virginity For $2.9 Million Dollars To Abu Dhabi Business Man

A teenage model has sold her virginity for around $3 million. Giselle, 19, was offered the huge amount by a businessman from Abu Dhabi who outbid an unidentified Hollywood actor. The third highest bid came from a Russian politician.

The American model, who put her innocence up for sale with Cinderella Escorts, says she wanted to do it so she can pay for tuition fees and go traveling. She said: ‘I would never have dreamed that the bid would rise so high and we would have reached 2.5 million euros. This is a dream come true. ‘I think the trend to sell your virginity is a form of emancipation and I am shocked about people who are against allowing a woman to sell HER virginity. ‘If I want to spend my first time with someone who is not my first love, that’s my decision.’ Model describes why she wants to sell her virginity.

Baltimore Detective Shot in the Head, Gunman at Large

A veteran homicide detective was shot in Baltimore on Wednesday by a gunman who remains at large.

The detective was conducting a follow-up to a homicide investigation when he was shot in the head at 4:30 p.m. in the city’s Harlem Park neighborhood, the Baltimore Sun reported.

He approached a man exhibiting “suspicious behavior” on the 900 block of Bennett Place before he was gravely injured, according to Police Commissioner Kevin Davis.

The 18-year veteran, who is also a married father of two, is on life support at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Davis said.

“This kind of violence cannot be tolerated. To have one of our own out there trying to protect citizens of our city, to be gunned down like us, is just unacceptable,” Mayor Catherine Pugh said.

Police cordoned off streets and a tactical unit combed alleyways as they searched for a shooter, described as an African-American male last seen wearing a black jacket with a white stripe on it, Davis said.

Numerous cruisers responded to the scene and a police helicopter buzzed overhead, illuminating streets below with a searchlight.

The Baltimore Police Department is soliciting tips from the public and offering a $60,000 reward.

The shooting Wednesday comes amid a particularly violent period in Baltimore. So far this year, the city of less than 620,000 inhabitants has seen more than 300 homicides.

FDA approves pill with digital tracking device you swallow

(CNN)A psychiatric medication system in the form of a pill with a built-in digital tracking device gained approval from the US Food and Drug Administration on Monday.

Abilify MyCite, a form of aripiprazole and a first-of-its-kind product, has an embedded ingestible sensor that records when the medication is taken. Made by Japan-based Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., the medication system is intended to treat schizophrenia, bipolar I disorder and depression in adults. Abilify without sensor technology was first approved to treat schizophrenia in 2002.
Schizophrenia, a psychotic disorder, includes symptoms of delusions and hallucinations. Bipolar patients may experience alternating episodes of mania and depression, a persistent sadness.

Though the idea behind Abilify MyCite is to improve a patient’s compliance with their medication regimen, the FDA noted that this has not been proved.
Teens and young adults who are taking antidepressants are at increased risk of suicidal behavior and thoughts when taking the medication, cautions a boxed warning; they should be monitored closely. Safety and effectiveness has not been established in children. Abilify MyCite is also not approved to treat older patients with dementia-related psychosis.
