Where are you from?
I was born Uptown New York, then left to Florida with my moms, brought myself back to the City after I graduated College
How did you get into music?
I got into music at a young age man before I even got into art and designing, I was like probably 9 or 10 listening to Nas mostly then Biggie, Wu Tang and then hip hop became a part of me in a way, The music really spoke to me and explained my environment.
What is it that you do?
Im A Freelance Creative Design Artist in the music industry with his own brand called ENVY, I specialize in Album packaging and Creating the overall project and visuals but i do multiple other things as well like Flyers, Animations, Business Cards, and more. I also help artist get resources and connections in order to grow and get some gems for the industry and how to maneuver. So In total I’m just a Creative / Business Man.
What are your goals?
Currently to just do what I love and be happy and content. I want to make my mark with my art in this game. I want people to see my art and be like damn ENVY did that. In 5 years from now I want to have my own studio where I help other designers who are passionate in both design and music / business get better at what their doing and improve their skills not just in the sense of art but in how to be freelancers and become bosses themselves.
What are you currently working on?
Right now I’m currently working on a lot of independent projects / small label projects but I’m always working on something different all the time and I think thats what I love about my job, i can just think of new fresh ideas daily and keep it coming. I recently did work with Atlantic, The Source, and Other big names like 21 Savage, Keyshia Cole, Cover art for Piif Jones who had Dave East on the track and his homie Prof Whyte.
How do you feel about the current state of HipHop?
I feel like a lot has happened in 44+ years in hip hop but its still growing and maturing as a genre. We just became like Pop to be honest and a lot of Trap is coming up plus this mumble generation so i dont know, we are all evolving and we gotta just be open minded to how things turn out but stay true to the roots of what hip hop stands for to the people who love the culture.
Anything you would like to say?
Yea man, shout out to JT he put me on while I was just starting ENVY, he a real one and to those kids who still grinding and pursuing their dream dont give up man no matter what anyone tells you, just focus on what you love and grind for it don’t ever be afraid to invest in yourself.
