Robert Page, (born September 8, 1985), better known by his stage name “Big Money Robbo” formally, Rob Green which he had to change due to legal issues. Robbo is an American rapper unsigned and under his own brand, “Bandland, USA” and is best known for his controversial “Saint Louis Rapper Gets Slapped While Freestyling” video that went viral in 2010.
Born in Saint Louis, MO and raised in one of the cities roughest parts, The North Side (6th District) Robbo was raised by his grandmother after his mother gave him up for adoption at birth.
As the oldest of 6, Robbo felt obligated to do more to support him an his grandmother so he dropped out of high school in the 10th grade and began selling drugs. That lifestyle eventually led to him to what he likes to call a “dead end” after losing a close friend. It was at that point that Robbo began to explore other options as a way out of the street life and considered getting into the entertainment business.
In 2010 the infamous “Rapper Gets Slapped While Freestyling” video went viral. A video clip of a guy rapping and getting smacked in front of a camera in a neighborhood in Saint Louis that Robbo had video taped and leaked. The video made it to TruTV, WorldStarHipHop, MTV’s Ridiculousness, and received over a million views on YouTube. He capitalized off of that situation to further his music career.
His career hit a snag November 17, 2012 when he was stopped by the Saint Louis City Task Force and officers found an unregistered Glock 17, with a drum attached inside his vehicle. Robbo was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm due to previous felonious charges and faced the possibility of serving Federal time. Luckily, due to “a good ass lawyer and God” Robbo was only sentenced to 3 years. During his time in prison, it was there that he began to take his music career more serious. He started writing songs, obtained his GED, started his own record label “Bandland,USA.” He was released on parole after serving 14 months in Missouri’s Booneville Correctional Facility on January 27, 2014.
In March, 2015, a call from Hoodrich Entertainment after the label heard some of his music. Impressed, they invited him to Atlanta, GA to work on a project. During his visit to Atlanta, Robbo was also able to network, build a buzz, and learn more about the music business. It was also during his trip to Atlanta that he received news that his girlfriend at the time was pregnant with his first child Madison, who was born 11/30/15.
Robbo’s sound and look is like no other. Even though his style of rap is considered “trap rap”, he likes to call it “check music”. With his witty wordplay, catchy choruses, and stand out ad libs, he has been able to separate himself from the rest. His sound has been influenced by Andre 3000, Three Six Mafia, Pimp C, and Gucci Mane.
Green has released one mixtape: “Codeine Crazy” and is currently working on his follow up mixtape, “Pay Like You Weigh” with the lead single, “Flippin” Produced by 808 Mafia He has also released two other singles titled “Million Dollar Artist” & “Athlete”.
