Get to know: King Bone

bone

Explain who you are for those who don’t know
King Bone, Born and raised in Aurora Illinois. I’m an October baby, Libras stand up! I’m part of Next Records out of New York, I’m a God fearing father of one, and a hustler 24/7.

How did you come up with your name?
Originally I went by my hometown name, “T Bone” but the Christian rapper named, “T-bone” started getting jealous when I built a name for myself. So, I felt it was more powerful to call myself King and keep the Bone at the end of it. Crazy thing is I had never even heard of the other T-bone until he was calling me out on social media.

Where are you from?
630, Aur-City, better known as Aurora Illinois. It’s about an hour away from Chicago. We are actually the second largest city in Illinois which most people are unaware of. First is Chicago of course, we follow right behind.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
Most people think because we are considered a suburb that it’s nice, non-violent, boring, and not too many ethnic groups. Aurora is far from that. My city is just as hood as any other city just less populated. It’s really split between East side and West side. They’ve been at war with each other for some years now. I’m from the West side but thankfully I’m cool with everybody. I get love everywhere and from everybody in Aurora. It’s not too many people that can say that especially other artist. It’s just about how you carry yourself. If you come to Aurora thinking it’s sweet your in for a rude awakening.

How did you get into music?
I really started getting into music my sophomore year in high school. A few of my friends were rappers and kind of talked me into trying it. All my teachers use to tell me my voice would get me far but I never really understood what they meant by it. As soon as I stepped to that mic, I found out! First it was just for play but as I got older, more mature, and more intelligent, I used music as a way to vent and tell my story. That’s when I really fell in love with it.

What makes you different than other artists?
What I feel makes me stand out is my work ethic. I feel talent is only half the battle. There is a ton of talented artist but how many of them are willing to die about being successful? Not many. I’ve invested time and money into my own music since day one. When major labels turned me down I kept grinding and building a following for myself. Most give up because it’s hard to really be successful in music. I have a non-quitters attitude and I stuck too it regardless of the level of difficulty. That’s what makes me different.

What are you currently working on?
Right now I got an EP in the works, dropping over the next few months. Other than that I’m just going to continue to drop singles before the EP. I got a few surprise features people are going to love as well as some very talented producers. Be on the look out because it’s about to get crazy!

Anything you would like to say?
Last but not least I just want to say thank Hip Hop Revival for showing me love. Follow me on social media, everything @KingBoneSMG, much love to my Stunt Money Gang family, Next Records, and of course my wonderful supporters because I do this for them! Aurora stand up!

Indy Spotlight: Dreebo

dreebo

Explain who you are for those who don’t know?
Dreebo is multitalented hip-hop artist who incorporates a mixture of singing and rapping to create a unique sound of his own. Dreebo grew up in Los Angeles, CA and was a student athlete for most of his early life. As his dreams of becoming an NFL athlete came to an end due to injuries he rediscovered his passion for music. This became his outlet. Dreebo has a natural born ability to convey depth and soul through his vocals and lyrical content. As an artist, his appreciation for rap, R&B and native Jamaican roots heavily influenced his sounds. Dreebo has evolved and is ready to establish himself as one of the best new artist in the music industry.

How did you come up with your name?
The name Dreebo started as a joke when ii wasn’t really taking music seriously, but it stuck with the Homies & when my family started calling me that ii knew that’s what my stage name was going to be. So as ii got more serious with music ii decided to stick with it.

Where are you from?
Los Angeles, CA

Whats it like growing up where your from?
It’s confusing. There’s a lot of distractions and other things to get into, but it’s also the land of opportunity and to me the best city in the world.

How did you get into music?
ii was always into music as a fan. ii love listening to music and making playlists. ii got into the artist side of music when ii was in college chillin wit the homies basically bored, and we started makin music and ii realized ii was on to something so ii dedicated my life to it.

What makes you different than other artists?
ii don’t sound like anybody. When you hear my music it’s a refreshing new sound. ii also think ii differentiate myself from other artist with my ability to sing and still rap like a lyricist, it just sounds different. With the way ii merge the two in my music ii think that’s something the industry hasn’t seen yet.

What are you currently working on?
ii just dropped a project Called Mann In My City 3 which is available everywhere! I’m also finishing up a joint project with one of my producers Andy Ray Productions which should be out real soon.

Anything you would like to say?
If you have a dream make a plan, execute that plan, work as hard & smart as you possibly can. Then the rest will fall into place.

Indy Spotlight: Evan James

screen-shot-2017-08-16-at-5-29-14-pm

Explain who you are for those who don’t know
I’m Evan James, I’m a 19 year old hip hop artist. Just a regular dude who hangs with his homies, honestly. Oh and i love baseball, if you don’t get with it. if your not with it, your missing out!

How did you come up with your name?
It’s my first and middle name, pretty simple, which how i like to keep things. I always remember growing up, actually even to this day, when i say something inappropriate my mom always would say “Evan James” so its pretty funny too.

Where are you from?
Irving Texas, its about 5 or 10 minutes west of Dallas.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
Irving is very diverse, all type of people stay over here which I am very thankful for. There isn’t much to do but if you are with a group of friends or whatever and just kickin it it’s a nice spot for sure. But the mall is pretty whack to be completely real so thats trash.

How did you get into music?
Growing up I was exposed to a lot of music from my uncles and my entire dad’s side of the family. My dad is 1 kid of 12 so the family is huge and they were always listening to classic rock and modern rock and stuff like that so i would hear a lot of that stuff. People like Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, the Eagles, stuff like that. But at the same time my older siblings and older cousins and some of my uncles would be putting me on to some dope hip hop stuff. When I was like 6 I was spitting Outkast in 1st grade cause of those people. Shout out 3k man, he’s top 3 all time.

What makes you different than other artists?
I feel like I am completely honest with myself when making music which, to me, a lot of people lack. Im gonna make music that i want to make at that certain time, which is why you’ll see on a lot of my music when it drops, you get multiple and all different vibes of Evan James. Its the same dude just tapping into every emotion and experience and not putting on a costume for the listeners. Basically i truly am myself when making music. And Im focusing on making a connection with the listener instead of just giving them a product, the more people know about me and the more i put myself out there the more people can attach to me.

What are you currently working on?
I’ve been stacking up music for some months now, I got my debut mixtape 812 basically done just have to wrap up some things but there is no date for the mixtape drop. I just want to focus on building a connection and getting my name out there before dropping the tape, but its ready to go.

Anything you would like to say?

Get to know: Ricardo Mac

img_0661_2

Explain who you are for those who don’t know
Ricardo Mac is a hip hop artist from Toronto with a somewhat southern cadence and tempo.

How did you come up with your name?
‘Ricardo’ is my middle name and ‘Mac’ was a nickname my friends called me in highschool.

Where are you from?
I was born in North York, ON, Canada. But grew up mostly in Brampton, ON, Canada.

Whats it like growing up where your from?
Diverse. Very diverse. Alot of different cultures and personalities. Also, my parents are Jamaican so I grew up in a caribbean household. As did alot of my friends, so the Jamaican culture obviously stood out the most where I grew up.

How did you get into music?
I always loved music. But I grew up a R&B fan, Jodeci, Dru Hill, Boyz 2 Men, etc… I was a Hip Hop fan as well, but R&B was first place. Until, I listened to Ludacris’ Back For The First Time album. For some reason that project changed my whole outlook on MC’s. Since then, I been writing music here and there for fun. Just earlier this year I decided to take it serious and dedicated majority of my days to getting better at my craft.

What makes you different than other artists?
I will never get complacent or get comfortable with my music style. I will always look to challenge myself when it comes to delivery, flow patterns, genres, and even down to cover artwork.

What are you currently working on?
Currently working on promoting my music video for “The Motive” and my EP “Limbo: In The West End”. I’m also slowly trying to build a strong team around me to help with my next promotional push. Also, I have two new songs I’m working on that will drop by late Fall early Winter.

Anything you would like to say?
The best opportunities in life are often disguised as hard work.
